About La Chaine
As an amateur gastronome, membership encourages you to share fine dining experiences with fellow members. Be warmly welcomed at Chaine establishments and celebrate the pleasures of the table as a member of an International gastronomic society that welcomes amateurs and professionals.
New Zealand Chaine des Rotisseurs
La Chaine des Rotisseurs was first introduced into New Zealand by a small group of dedicated people back in 1988 under the leadership of Mr John Gray who had at that time returned from the Philippines. Subsequently, Bailliages were established in Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington and Christchurch.
The Society has flourished and has attracted amongst its membership people from all walks of life who enjoy the culture of the table by attending formal and informal functions. These take place in every imaginable type of restaurant and embrace many cuisines and cultures.
The professional membership comprises owners and operators of restaurants, hotels and other eating establishments that pride themselves on the standard of their culinary excellence. This group takes the opportunity to create and showcase the quality aspect of its operation.
The Chaine's commitment to the "Best Young Commis Chef Competition" is but one way in which we can draw the focus of the world to us, New Zealand Young Commis Chef competitors having won the top honours on more than one occasion at the International finals. These awards confirm the dedication of the chefs and managers of those establishments that have an ongoing commitment to quality of service and training with the express purpose of encouraging the pursuit of excellence in their chosen profession as a part of an international organisation which fosters friendship among members around the world.
All Bailliages wherever in the world, strive to unite professional and non-professional gastronomes in a private, non-profit making Society committed to promoting the culinary arts and hospitality through example, education and camaraderie.
